Peñin Guide expert is currently in Figueres appraising more than 200 wines from the DO Empordà. In this morning's brief encounter with the media, the taster of the renowned guide stated that 2013's harvest "was particularly fresh" resulting in wines "with a pronounced acidity" that in general leave us with" a more positive feeling" than the 2012's harvest.

Luengo emphasised that in "such difficult year" as 2013 has been, Empordà's wine growers and producers "have been wise to wait" to achieve "a
balance and consistency" that has not occurred in other denominations. The taster added that the DO Empordà "has a big room for growth" and has
encouraged producers to bet on high-end white wines, especially the bigger brands.

2014 Peñin Guide, recently released, gives 41 of Empordà's wines the rating of Excellent, scoring 90 points or more. The results achieved in this
new edition of the publication confirm the upward trend of recent years -38 excellent in 2013 versus 31 in 2012 - and demonstrate the continuos qualitative improvement of  DO Empordà wines.
